The vehicle is spacious, heated and comfortable with secure fixings for wheelchairs and a range of other safety equipment.

Are you confused about DBS checks?
Do you feel like you don’t know where to start with applying for one?
North Herts CVS can help
DBS checks were previously called CRB checks. DBS checks are required for any person who works with children/young people or vulnerable adults. NHCVS are registered as an umbrella body with the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) which means that we can process DBS applications for you, your staff and volunteers. It is recommended that DBS certificates are renewed every 3 years.
DBS Appointments with NHCVS
If you would like us to oversee your DBS application, you will need to make an appointment with us.
All appointments are done face to face at our Letchworth office and usually take 10-15 minutes.
We are open 9am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Please call 01462 689400 to make an appointment, and ask for either Alex or Rebecca.
An appointment time is needed, to make sure that there is a member of staff available to complete the application.
It is up to your employer/volunteer supervisor to decide whether you need a DBS check or not. To find out if you are eligible, try this short quiz on the DBS website. We may be able to visit your organisation to undertake DBS applications if you have a large number to be completed, for this service, there is an off-site administration charge.
Identity Documents Required
The person requiring the check will need to bring along original identification documents to the appointment. We cannot accept copies of documents. We suggest you bring:
- Current passport
- Photocard Driving License
- Tax forms/utility bill/bank statement with your current name and address on them, which is less than 3 months old and not printed from the internet
- Marriage or Birth certificate (if no passport)
- National Insurance number (on either a p45 or p60)
If you have moved within the last 5 years, previous address details, including postcodes, will be required. If you have changed your name (e.g. you got married), you will need to bring documents and details of the name change, including the date that your name changed.
For more information about DBS checks and suitable identification, please visit the DBS website.
